HazeMD is a Megadrive / Genesis emulator based on the MAME code. It works in exactly the same way MAME does.

Wonderleague ‘96

This one ended up on the backburner when I had CPS3 to work on. I’ve finally got back to it, and now it appears to work fine. Just one unemulated game in this SemiCom series now (the original ‘Magicball Fighting’)

Entirely Stolen Drawings?

As pointed out on Mameworld, the backgrounds used in Swat Police shown on my pages here have all been lifted from other games, mostly it would seem NeoGeo ones. (I think some of the explosions are taken from Metal Slug too)

Swat Police

Brian added this one, but it uses one of the layers in a different way to the other ESD games on the driver so I fixed it. Easy to guess because the hardware is clearly still derived from Tumble Pop (just less obviously than Jumping Pop etc.) It’s a Korean game with gameplay like Cabal etc.

Squash (Itisa)

thanks to f205v for finding this one. controls aren’t hooked up (looks like it might be dials, like ‘off the wall’, the Sente game)

Black Touch ‘96

Black Touch ‘96 is a Korean Beat ‘em Up game. It dosen’t seem to be related to the older ‘Black Touch’ (which is a hack of Dragon Punch.

My initial impression is that this is actually an original Korean game, rather than a hack. It uses a pretty wacky sprite system where all the sprites are made of strips a tilemap. I haven’t quite figured out how it works yet. The text layer tile banking is also wrong.

Sound isn’t emulated because the sound chips are driven by a PIC, which is probably read protected.

It of course has obligatory ‘Girl between Levels’ as found on many Korean games.

In other news, I took a look back at the Kaneko Supernova driver and fixed up the priorities for Cyvern. The Speed took a bit of a nosedive in the process, but it’s a stunning game, and looks even better with proper rendering order.

These fixes also bring some missing graphics in Sen Know, Saru-Kani-Hamu-Zou, and Gals Panic S into view. Furthermore I’ve identified (but not yet fixed) the problem with bad zooming / flicking sprites in Sengeki Striker.
