This isn’t a complete article, just a bunch of screenshots and some preliminary text. I might actually finish it at some point and describe what is shown. It’s missing an awful lost right now. The first proper article is the 2012 one
Platforms
G-Net
While a good number of Playstation based platforms had been emulated for a while there were still some hold-outs, and at the time of writing (2014) there still are, however 2009 did see the first emulation of one of the major ones; Taito’s G-Net platform.
Not every game on G-Net worked immediately, it took several years before the likes of Night Raid became playable due to improvements in the Playstation emulation, and some like Space Invaders Anniversary have fluctuated between working and non-working due to being very sensitive to timing and any changes in the emulation. It also took several years before there was any preliminary indication of the sound chip, so while 2009 represented an important step in the emulation of G-Net it’s easy to see where improvements have been made since.
