At this point I consider the 0.148u1 articles below to be done, I think I’ve covered all major points with the release even if the MAME side is looking thin on the ground.
u1 was quite a big update because it’s been almost a month since 0.148 hit, back in the day we had weekly u updates and monthly/bi-monthly full releases and also because the first few weeks of a new year seems to typically be when a lot of progress happens, so you have the rear-end of that included.
I don’t want to put up a todo list for the new year because we still have some idiot spammer spamming members of MAMEdev with his personal todo list multiple times per day, every single day and I don’t want to give him any more ammo (I’ve reported him to him to the mailing company and ISP..)
That said I do have a few things in mind, but we’ll have to see how they pan out, as mentioned there really isn’t anything easy left so it’s entirely possible I’ll slam against a brick wall with everything I attempt.
David, thanks for you great work.
These days I got a Revenge From Mars (Pinball 2000 hardware) that runs under cyrix mediagx pc motherboard. I’ll do a full restore and add to my arcade/pinball collection because I just love this game.
Unfortunally, today is impossible to find this motherboard for replacement and the PRISM card is also rare too. There is a project called NUCORE but is stopped.
Google a lot and I found someone is trying to emulate the system (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=128335.0). Do you have interest on it? Please contact me if you want.

You should definitely dump the drive (if it has one, full drive image using WinHex or similar) the ROMs on the board, and the BIOS if you can, that way it can be added to MAME as a skeleton.
There are other ‘mediagx’ based things in MAME, Area 51 Site 4 and Funky Ball, and while neither is playable yet (and both use different hardware to the game you have) it would be a base to start the emulation.
If you need help with this you should contact Smitdogg of the Dumping Union at MAMEWorld

Great, David!
I’ll take a look onto the PRISM board and locate the IC´s to see what needs to be dumped!
The PinMAME guys had Pinball 2000 emulated fully around 2007 or so, and were attempting to make a commercial go of it (so they wouldn’t tell me the details).
I think it’s sufficiently later enough that we might as well take a look at it.
I *think* NuCore is them. If it is, they were using a modified Bochs with some of MAME’s mediagx code patched in, so it’s a license disaster waiting to happen.
Thanks for the info an interest, Arbee. I’ll take a look onto the PRISM board this weekend to get some info!
What did you mean with *modified Bochs*?
I am having trouble creating a new software list, or a new device list. all the buttons that do that are grayed out and I can’t access them. What do I do?
Bochs is a PC emulator/virtual machine ( http://bochs.sourceforge.net/ )
he means that *if* NuCore is related to the PinMAME guys, then his emulator takes pieces of Bochs source code and pieces of MAME source code, and hence mixes code with incompatible licenses…
I don’t understand your question, I can only assume you’re using some kind of application? A software list is an XML file.. and I have no idea what a device list is at all..
David, please contact me by e-mail about pinball 2000.
Thanks!
