UME is the complete/combined version of the MAME / MESS project.
Official whatsnew texts for (MAME, MESS) provide full details of what has changed since 0.156.
This is the first release built since the official source repository was moved to GitHub, it is based on the official ‘mame0157’ tagged version.
UME 0.157 Windows binaries – 32-bit, 64-bit and all tools
(source matches official mamedev.org source distribution, here for completeness)
Other Binaries (if you don’t know what these are you don’t need them)
MAME/MESS split 0.157 Windows binaries – 32-bit, 64-bit and all tools
Points of Interest
0.157 is fairly light on the ‘new working games’ side of things, but there have been a couple of important revision fixes including a fix for the flickering sprites in ‘720’ that has plagued MAME since some rewrites a few years back.
In the MESS side there have been improvements to the recently added Gamate driver as well as many other changes to less well known systems – it’s definitely worth checking out the progress logs there.
End of 2014
2014 is now at an end as far as MAME/MESS/UME releases are concerned, and I’m going to finishg off the 2014 writeup over the next few weeks. In the meantime, what have been your favourite moments?
Haze on Gals Panic II Quiz Version, after we add a code to get 100% and win the game, in the bonus stage it shows a girl now. I donĀ“t know if you saw this.
It was the RGB Colour you add it in the lastest GIT’s of MAME.
Raiden II and DX, COP emulation, lots prototypes emulated and games fixes or with sounds
Absolutely Ken Sei Mogura, Raiden II/DX and Zero Team.
Thank you David and mamedevs, and happy new year!
Happy new year Haze.
DoDonpachi Dai-Fukkatsu officially added, Raiden II/DX, NMK16 sound.
Best Moments in 2014 for MAME?? Hands down gotta be Raiden 2/DX fully playable plus the NMK improvements
I enjoyed all the new games added to MAME in 2014… but i can’t remember which ones they are, or even playing any of them.
New things are always nice though.
NMK16 sound, Raiden II/DX, Zero Team (fingers crossing for others), return of cv1k
Hi David, I have an interesting bootleg copy of Sexy Parodius. I dumped the ROMs from it, and some data seems similar to the released game but there are a few different bits. Most annoyingly all the audio has been replaced with some shitty looping samples of a fraction of the music on the board, and very low-quality sound effects. Sounds like they were recorded with a microphone in front of the original JAMMA board.
Interestingly the bootleg’s implementation of the graphics share the same bugs as MAME does, but it’s running real code on a 68EC020 on board, so it’s not just running MAME.
If you’d like a dump of the roms, let me know and I’d be happy to send them your way.
Yes, that is of interest to us, I’ve dropped you an email :-)
Hello. I have a problem using this version of ume. It happens every time I run ume. I can set button ‘z’ as button 1 in the settings before selecting and running a game, but if I run a game then set the buttons, I can’t set button ‘z’ as button 1 (ume does not respond when I press button ‘z’ in the settings) but if I exit the game then set button z in the game selection menu (z button is set as button 1) then run the game, and press z button when playing the game(e.g. I press z and in raiden dx, the plane shoots)then, I pause the game , set the buttons , ume responds. I can set button z in the games then. But the next time I run ume , this happens again. I can ignore this because it does not affect the gameplay, but I had a bad feeling if I want to set button z in the game without letting the z button being used once. And all the previous versions of ume and mameuifx has this problem. Shmupmame doesn’t. There must be a file hidden in a place I couldn’t find. How to solve this problem? Thanks!
Mame builds are broken again.
Thanks for the update, now works fine. :)
