Me And You Versus The World

Olivier managed to pass the first protection check in this. I swapped the data rom loading, and we have a title screen. I think the rom naming is incorrect, and it’s possible some of the sprite roms are too small too, investigating. *edit* I’m 99.9% sure that the roms are too small. The sprite roms contain nothing but player gfx and heads, but are used for a lot more in the game.

f205v has dumped the program roms of 3 different revision in past times. Perhaps he still has a pcb..

Posted by: Osso at January 3, 2010 07:52

f205v dumped those revisions in 2005, so I’m not confident he’ll still have them, or if he knows how to deal with the Konami MaskROMs. (they’re unmarked, and thus tricky, which is why we have bad dumps in the first place)

I found my dump notes for it. It turned out I was sent this to redump just one sound ROM @7R. It was probably originally dumped by Team Japump.
So your only hope of a redump is f205v if he still has access to the PCBs. The ROMs are not particularly difficult to dump as long as you know what they are. If they are half sized all it means is they need to be re-read as 27C322 since they’re currently 2M which translates to 27C160. Konami PCBs usually have printing on the PCB that gives the ROM size but it’s usually like this….

Ok. If people are going to keep posting how Luca’s WIP is better than this one, and how this one is boring then I’m going to have to close the comments again.

I do work so that other people can benefit, I work as part of a team, including everybody else where possible, solving problems that NEED solving.

Luca posted some pictures which I can only assume were to boost his own ego, and for people to masturbate over. The games concerned didn’t need emulating let, nevermind being publicly displayed as such. I’m not in the business of trying to piss off the game companies especially ones who have specifically asked for their stuff not to be emulated.

So yeah, maybe you find Luca’s WIP more interesting, maybe you prefer selfish developers who work on their own, for their own benefit and own ego only? Maybe you prefer developers who spend their time on things which didn’t even need dumping yet? calling the stuff I’m doing here ‘boring’ and ‘worthless’ just because it isn’t some brand-new latest arcade game is quite frankly insulting.

Also posting torrents to the PS2 version of it? That’s pretty dumb too.

At least you know the progress I’m showing here is genuine MAME work in progress, for games which actually needed dumping and emulating, and for which the support code will actually appear in the next version of MAME, not some warez-kiddie pleasing wank-fest.

Haze, don’t be angry…
just ignore stupid kids
and go on…

it’s better than start discussion with worthless people….

and try to avoid blame/provoke luca as person… i not know who he is (maybe you know), but this is not fair at all

Well, it just shows what a divided team it is, where certain developers get special privileges etc. I always wanted to create a system of equality, whereby everybody who was part of the team had the same opportunities, the same level of respect, and the same voice. This is just another example of how that’s disintegrating these days, and how talent is being wasted and priorities are all wrong.

Things like this create divides and bad feeling within the team, and aren’t good for productivity. I haven’t seen any other devs say anything positive about this new at all, and for good reason, it’s not what MAME is meant to be about.

i’m reading all that offtopics with growing fear, MAME will suffer somehow in the end… people don’t change so maybe only cure (if cure is needed at all) is reorganize team membership, maybe some people don’t fit anymore. don’t know how it will end but one thing is clear – _ruining_that_unique_project_would_be_inexcusable_!!!_

Luca’s who? Haha, relax man, you too much, you know…

You know, i wouldn’t do all this work to ungrateful kids, I wonder what takes you and the rest of the team to do it.

Oh, and you mind ppl posting PS2 games torrents, so i will re-think on posting the porn ones…

And, keep up the good work.

The corrupted graphics make it look like zombie soccer. Which is pretty funny, in and of itself. Good work, anyway. :)
